Canvas phenolic board placed on the platen of a press for foil stamping, ususally attached with double faced tape, easily cut to size needed. This can be used with counter dies. Some printers print directly by letterpress with phenolic board as being the only surface on the platen. It provides a hard and very smooth surface. Phenolic board can also be used in die cutting as an alternative to a steel die plate or die jacket.
